Nearly five years earlier their parents had died, leaving the two of them to fend for themselves and immediately shed taken the lead. Since she was the eldest by nearly three full years shed made sure to take care of her little brother, working two jobs for the most part while still trying to go to school and keep the roof over their heads. The house had been left to them in their parents will and theyd had some life insurance so the funeral costs had been taken care of but after all the bills had been paid theyd been forced to sell a few things to keep up with a few last minute things and Marissa had realized that it wasnt going to be as easy as just working an extra job to keep food on the table. Since then shed turned into the mom of the house, forcing her brother to go to school at times but also making sure that she was still the one he came to with his problems. She loved her brother to death and it was obvious shed do whatever she needed to make sure he was taken care of.
Now it was his turn to pick it up a little. For the last 6 weeks his school work had been slacking and shed been getting calls from teachers that he wasnt in class. If he wasnt in school Marissa wanted to know where the hell he was going but she didnt bother pushing it, after all, they were both stubborn enough that she knew he wouldnt talk until he was ready. With that in mind shed left him be, still doing what she could to keep things together and running as smoothly as they would.
All the lights off that werent needed she returned to the main hall of their two story house, the black duffle in hand once more before she headed for the stairs. Rubbing large, tired brown eyes with one hand she ran her fingers through her thick black hair, the ebony locks hanging down to the middle of her back and curling in natural ringlets for the last six inches. Already her hair was dotted with white and silver but the effect just seemed to make her look all the more lovely, and she refused to dye her hair anyway. Licking her lips and sighing heavily she dragged herself up the stairs, kicking off her heels when she finally reached her room.
Sean? Sticking her head out her door she yelled for her brother, leaning in the doorway and setting a hand on her barely clad hip. Still dressed in her work clothes her tank top didnt meet the top of her extremely low cut jeans and the tattoos on her hip bones, lower back, and collarbone showed. Skin a pale gold that seemed to shimmer she looked down the dark hallway, sighing and walking down the hall, knocking on his door. Sean, you in there? Cmon, you said youd still be up when I got home, she said softly, opening the door.
